No matter how you look at it, Shade: Wrath of Angels does not hold. Taken as a survival horror game, is derivative, silly, and about as scary as an episode of Scooby-Doo guest actor Don Knotts. As an action game, Shade suffers from a long list of flaws: a dull hero, boring and frustrating combat, repetition levels, key hunts, scarce save points - you name it. Shade is not entirely bad, thanks to a few attractive visual touches and musical themes, but ultimately little value in the grand scheme of things.
In the shade, you play as a generic type whose brother lasts just happens to be an archaeologist. It seems that his little brother has encountered an ancient mystery and received the same magically imprisoned by angry gods. They soon learn that it is necessary to release him, first releasing four fallen angels trapped in parallel worlds. As described in one of countless scenes and the game inevitably tedious, this story does not make much sense and is as addictive as a page of the telephone directory. You just have to roll with it.
As you run through different game worlds, you run, fight and jump from a view in first or third person. Neither is satisfactory standpoint. The first person view to giving the crosshairs targeting the third-person view lacks, but makes it harder to perform various acrobatic style of Lara Croft, as jumping chasms or vibrating along narrow ravines. The controls and camera are outdated, in any case, so it is difficult to move fluidly or see clearly at times. It is also unclear how far they can fall without dying, which leads to frustration and track error segments platformer many. Besides climbing and jumping, you also have to resolve a handful of relatively simple puzzles, which are often just tedious key-hunting without thinking.
